My journey into equipment finance began unexpectedly. While studying political theory and marketing at McMaster and Carleton Universities, I discovered a dynamic industry that rarely appears on student’s radar. Joining Commcorp Financial in the mid-1990s changed everything—I found not only lifelong friendships but also a genuine passion for creating clarity in complex financial situations.
What energizes me most are win-win scenarios. I quickly recognized the tremendous opportunity for vendors to leverage equipment financing as a powerful sales tool. Drawing on my marketing background, I analyzed the metrics and spearheaded Questor’s marketing initiatives, which reinforced my conviction: small businesses deserve better access to capital and equipment financing solutions.
My commitment is clear—providing opportunities for our Questor team members to achieve their best while connecting clients with trusted advisors to navigate their business finances. What I love most about this industry is that relationships and trust are the bedrock of everything we do.

With over two decades of experience in the leasing industry, I’ve grown alongside Questor—starting with a leap of faith and a simple promise: “Give me a chance to show you what I can do.” I didn’t have the formal qualifications, but I had drive, curiosity, and a deep desire to learn. That’s what brought me here, and it’s what’s kept me going for 22 years.
I began in inside sales, cold-calling and digging through our database to uncover opportunities. That hunger to understand led me into credit, then funding, and eventually into every corner of the business. I’ve had the privilege of learning from incredible leaders and building strong relationships with our funder partners—relationships built on trust, respect, and shared goals.
Today, I lead our Sales Support Team, coaching others the way I was once coached: with patience, encouragement, and a belief in their potential. I love watching our team grow into their roles and build careers they’re proud of. My approach has always been to lead by example and keep learning from those around me.
What I love most about this industry is the constant challenge — every deal is unique, and every stakeholder deserves our best. I’m proud to be a part of a team that values excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Danya Tobin-Ellerbeck

Before stepping into the world of finance, I built a career in athletics and health. I competed nationally as a figure competitor with the CPA, played soccer and boxed at the provincial level, and later operated a multidisciplinary clinic as an athletic and massage therapist. Sports have always been a big part of my life — and while competition looks a different these days, I try to sneak in a round of golf whenever I can!
To support my studies, I worked at TD Canada Trust, while I pursued academics at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College, followed by a Business Foundations Certificate from UBC’s Sauder School of Business. That mix of competitive sport, healthcare, and business shaped the collaborative and solutions-focused approach I bring to my role today.
As Credit Manager at Questor, I focus on managing files while building meaningful relationships with vendors and end users. I enjoy taking the time to understand each customer’s goals and creating well-structured applications that set them up for success. After a long and winding journey through various career paths—ranging from policing and welding to auto repair—I found myself searching for a workplace where I could truly commit and flourish. I explored countless options, speaking with friends and acquaintances, but none felt quite right. It wasn’t until my mother, who has always been my guiding light, reached out to me with an incredible opportunity to work alongside her that I began to see a glimmer of hope.
At first, I hesitated, unsure if working behind a desk and handling calls would be a good fit for me, especially given my background in face-to-face customer service. However, I soon realized how mistaken I was. As I settled into this role, I discovered that all my past experiences were not separate threads but rather an intricate tapestry, each woven into this new chapter of my life.

Well, I didn’t grow up saying I aspired to be in the equipment leasing industry. But I’ve always loved being of service to others—and sometimes life has a funny way of leading you exactly where you need to be.
I began my career in equipment sales back in 1985, and quickly discovered something that changed everything: offering financing was a game-changer. Nearly 90% of my sales closed through lease agreements because customers cared about monthly payments that fit their budget, not the total price tag.
That lightbulb moment led me to transition into equipment leasing and financing in 1990. After working with a couple of key funders, I joined Questor Financial in 1999, and that’s where things really opened up. Instead of being limited to one funding source, I could suddenly serve a much wider range of businesses with customized solutions that actually made sense for them.
Nearly four decades later, I’ve built deep expertise in financial solutions and business growth strategies. But here’s the thing—beyond all the numbers and industry knowledge, what I’m really passionate about is customer service. Whether I’m working with equipment vendors, helping startups get off the ground, supporting franchise growth, or partnering with established businesses, my team and I are always here to help. My customers always know where to find me.
My approach is straightforward: make financing seamless, help businesses thrive, and give sales teams the tools they need to close more deals.
